There is still (STILL!) some confusion regarding the use of certain (MANY!) terms for “used” records that are bought and sold at record stores, record conventions/swaps/fairs, and through the mail using self-published set-sale lists, ads in magazines such as Goldmine, and ads/auctions placed on the internet.
Here I will address two terms that are often confused with one another and thereby misused and often leading to transactions where the buyer feels abused. Those terms are “factory sealed album” and “still sealed album.”
This entry on ‘used’ versus ‘collectable records’ has been moved from this website to my new website, Rather Rare Records (ratherrarerecords.com). It has been rewritten and expanded. I have also changed the piece’s title to “some commonly misused terms in record collecting.”
